About The Position
The Peer Support Specialist position will assist in daily activities at the HUB/Cafe. These responsibilities include providing peer support within the Hub/Cafe, facilitating classes, conducting outreach to community partners, and sharing lived experiences with community members that attend the hub/cafe. The peer support specialist support focuses on increasing the individual’s desire to live as independently as possible and being an active participant in their recovery journey while reestablishing their community roles related to the 8 dimensions of wellness as defined by SAMSHA. (ex. Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, Occupational, Social, Intellectual, Environmental, Financial). They will be responsible for ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment, assisting visitors with inquiries, and providing administrative support to the organization and leadership team. The Peer Support Specialist will provide administrative support to the organization by utilizing multiple EHR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applications as identified.

What You’ll Do
- Provides Peer Support in the HUB/Cafe including completing hub interest forms, initial contact, front desk support, etc.
- Provide Peer Support to assigned caseload as identified by supervisor.
- Assist with establishing relationships and gathering information from individuals for the purposes of engagement and support.
- Lead and facilitate classes/recovery circles and educational groups.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation in accordance with agencies’ expectations, policies, and procedures. (ie. complete monthly outcomes reports, Penelope (EHR), Daily work logs, GPRA, TTA forms, Agency etc.)
- Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere at the front desk and ensuring all individuals are signed in appropriately.
- Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate staff members or departments.
- Respond to inquiries from individuals seeking information about our services, programs, and resources.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and office supply list management.
- Connect peers to resources in community and/or internally with other PRN programs and support them in navigating these resources.
- Ability to interface with peers, colleagues, service providers, family members and community members in an empathetic, professional manner.
- Attending local and statewide training and additional training as required.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, peer support for peer supporters, and team/group activities.
- Ability to represent the agency with a high level of professionalism within the community and workplace.
- Actively seeking and building new relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and community members who may benefit from services.

- Assist with other related duties as assigned by Café Project Manager or Executive Leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist or eligible to become a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist.
- Belief in the recovery potential of all people and is committed to the philosophy of peer support by reinforcing their ability to work and/or achieve personal goals.
- Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring to grow skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN’s mission, values, philosophy, and guidance to team members.
- Demonstrates taking personal responsibility, being dependable, reliable, working as a team player, and utilizing personal determination skills.

- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation.
- Must have a valid NC Driver’s license.
